Billy Plauché invited to Natural Resource Damages Conference

Partner Billy Plauché  has been invited speak at the Natural Resource Damages (NRD) Conference March 12 &13, 2015 The conference will be held at the Thurman Arnold Building located at 555 Twelfth Street, NW in Washington, DC 20004.  Specifically, Billy will present on the topic of  NRD Litigation: Lessons from Recent Cases on March 12th at 10:00 am EST.

The Natural Resources Damages conference will cover the substantial legal, scientific, economic and policy issues facing Trustees, companies and others, including several cross-cutting issues surrounding Natural Resource Damages. It will feature a nationally recognized faculty including high-ranking government policy-makers, senior corporate in-house counsel, private practitioners with notable expertise in developing effective strategies in NRD litigation, and best-in-class experts including environmental scientists and economists.

Peter discussed his views on conflicts arising from diminishing access to wilderness areas from increased flood damage to vital roads and the lawsuits being used to keep them from being rebuilt. The article featured Peter’s thoughts on how increasing lack of access is making it harder to connect newer, more diverse constituents to our public lands. It also mentioned Peter’s work in emerging collaborative approaches to conservation which can avoid costly litigation and build new alliances for both economic and ecological sustainability.
